LISA: The Painful rpg is probably the closest example I can think of regarding a dark turn-based rpg. Rogue Legacy and Castle in the Darkness spring to mind, but I'm sure there are plenty of others. Is it the bleak tone TC is interested in or the game mechanics? 'Cause games that expect the player to die and are built around it are fairly common these days. I can't think of any turn-based rpg's that remind me distinctly of Darkest Dungeon. They changed it to the War of the Lions and added some artistic license, but the seed of real events is there.ĪNYWAY.
